Safe and correct use of aviation radio requires a valid radiotelephony qualification. We run two courses: Voice VFR (the mandatory licence for VFR pilots) and Voice IFR (additional phraseology required for instrument pilots). Both end in the BAZL table-pass exam.

Voice VFR

Who it's for
PPL(A)/LAPL(A) students and licence-holders without an active RT licence. Voice VFR is mandatory to use aviation radio in Swiss airspace.
Theory
The theory module covers the basics of VFR radio communication: how flight information and weather are exchanged, time references, frequencies and call-signs, message acknowledgement, and the radio vocabulary's many abbreviations. Aerodrome procedures (circuit, approaches, departures, crossing CTRs and TMAs) and the structure of Swiss airspace are taught in depth.
Practical
The practical module turns theory into reflexes through structured radio scenarios. Practice makes perfect — by the end of the course you'll be ready for the BAZL table-pass exam.
Exam
BAZL/FOCA table-pass examination. Pass it and the radiotelephony qualification is added to your licence.

For instrument pilots
Voice IFR
On top of VFR phraseology, learn the radio communication required for IFR operations.
Who it's for
Instrument-rating candidates and IFR pilots. Voice VFR is a prerequisite — Voice IFR builds on it.
Theory
Cleared to climb, cleared via, expect further clearance. Voice IFR teaches the additional phraseology used in IFR operations: en-route clearances, departure procedures, arrivals, holds, and instrument approaches.
Practical
Realistic IFR scenarios — flying complete clearance sequences from filed flight plan to landing. Course prepares you for the BAZL table-pass exam.
