1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser when you visit. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — such as your language preference or whether you have accepted or declined non-essential tracking — across page loads and return visits.
We also use similar technologies such as local storage and session storage for comparable purposes. Unless we say otherwise, references to "cookies" in this policy cover all such technologies.
2. How we use them on alpaviation.ch
alpaviation.ch uses cookies for three purposes: to make the site work correctly (strictly necessary), to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it (analytics), and — in future — to support marketing activities if we introduce them. We do not currently use marketing or advertising cookies.
When you first visit the site, a consent banner asks you to accept or decline non-essential cookies. Strictly necessary cookies are set regardless of your choice — they are required for the site to function. All other cookies are loaded only after you opt in.

4. Your choices
To change your preferences at any time, click the "Cookie settings" button in the footer of any page on alpaviation.ch. You can accept or decline analytics cookies at any point — your choice is saved and respected on future visits.
To block cookies at the browser level, most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings (usually under Privacy or Security). Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the site from working correctly.
To opt out of Google Analytics across all sites you visit, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
5. Third-party cookie disclosures
- Google LLC (Analytics 4) — sets _ga and _ga_* cookies to measure site traffic and user behaviour. Data is processed in the US under EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, with IP anonymisation enabled. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
- Microsoft Corporation (Clarity) — sets _clck, _clsk, and MUID cookies to generate anonymised heatmaps and session recordings for usability analysis. Data is processed in the US under Standard Contractual Clauses. Microsoft's privacy policy: privacy.microsoft.com.
We do not use cookies set by advertising networks, social media platforms, or affiliate programmes.
6. Do Not Track signals
We do not alter the data we collect in response to browser-level "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals, because there is no consistent standard for how those signals should be interpreted. We do, however, honour the explicit choice you make through our consent banner. Declining analytics cookies via the banner achieves the same result as a DNT signal: no analytics or tracking scripts are loaded for your session.
7. Updates to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we add, change, or remove cookies or third-party providers. When we do, we will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page. Material changes — such as introducing a new category of cookies or a new third-party — will be reflected in the consent banner so that you can make a fresh choice.
