Upset Prevention Recovery Training

UPRT Upset Prevention Recovery Training

Description

Since 20.12.2019, EASA regulations have stipulated that “Upset Recovery Training” must be completed at a certified flight school for the licenses/authorizations listed below. According to EASA, the background to this decision is aircraft accident investigations over the last few decades. To this day, loss of control during flight is the most frequent cause of accidents in air traffic. Therefore, the UPRT is now intended to provide the necessary knowledge to quickly and safely end unwanted or difficult-to-control flight conditions at any time. alpaviation was the first school in Switzerland to offer this training and has a wealth of experience in this area with over 250 training courses.

Necessity of a UPRT

A UPRT is required as part of ATPL and CPL training and for the initial issue of a class and type rating for:

  • Single-pilot aircraft in multi-pilot operation
  • Non-complex high-performance aircraft with one pilot
  • Complex high-performance aircraft with one pilot
  • Aircraft that are operated with several pilots

Prerequisites

A valid medical and one of the following licenses are mandatory for the course:

  • CPL(A) modular or integrated or CPL-IR(A)
  • or MPL(A)
  • or PPL(A)
  • or LAPL(A)

Education

The course comprises a theoretical and a practical module.

The 5-hour theory course covers topics such as aerodynamics, G-forces, flight path management, recognition (instrument reading and control inputs), system malfunctions and human factors.

Special flight conditions are trained in the 3-hour flying lessons. The focus here is, for example, on high and low pitch at various bank angles, stall and spin training.

The practical module is used on a Bristell BR23 with a modern glass cockpit to train awarness in the EFIS area for nose high nose low and stalls as well as the CAP 10 for spins and vrills.

A certificate is issued on successful completion of the course.
